Brushy Creek students in kindergarten through fifth grades are invited to earn one FREE ticket to a Six Flags Theme Park, which is good at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio or Six Flags over Texas in Arlington! This special promotion is sponsored by Six Flags® and Weekly Reader®. Tracking forms are available on the eFolder and Library Website and extra copies are available in the library.
Requirements to earn the FREE ticket are simple, easy, and fun:
1. The student will read for a total of 6 Hours (360 minutes) before/after the regular school day.
2. The student or parent will write down titles of reading materials and dates read and initial as needed.
3. ***Important*** The parent will fill out and sign the “Signature Section” on the bottom of the Student Reading Log.
4. The student will return the Reading Log to the classroom teacher on or before Wednesday, February 24.
The contest will end February 24, 2010. Minutes of reading before 7:45 a.m. or after 2:45 p.m. may be counted. Books, magazines, comic books, and newspapers are acceptable reading materials. Also, if your child is participating in the Read Across America contest those minutes will count as well.
Students are encouraged to read DAILY toward the Six Hour goal. It is very important to fill out the “Student Keeping Track Form” regularly. Six Flags requires that these logs be filled out and collected in order for students to receive the FREE ticket. All reading logs MUST be turned in to the classroom teacher by Wednesday, Feb. 24. No Late forms will be accepted!
The FREE tickets will be sent home in Tuesday folders in May. These tickets may ONLY be used between June 28 and August 15, 2010. The FREE tickets are intended for the students who earn them and are invalid if sold or given away.

Award-Winning Author Susan Stevens Crummel visited Brushy Creek last Thursday, November 5th, and she gave fabulous presentations to all students PreK through 5th grade! Her most recent book, Help Me Mr. Mutt: Expert Answers for Dogs with People Problems has been nominated for this year’s Texas Bluebonnet Award!
Thank you, Mrs. Crummel, for entertaining us with several great presentations, and for signing the mountains of books! We would be happy to welcome you back to Brushy Creek any time you are passing through Round Rock!
